2007-2008 season for Region 8!
Hello! My name is Alana Townsend and I am your Region 8 Director. I hope each team, team manager, coordinator, and supporting school is focused on CREATIVITY and TEAMWORK in our Region. I am excited to see all our teams at the tournament in March 2008!

Tournament and Trainings
- NEW!!!! Team Manager and team workshops for our region are in the process of being finalized. A Team Manager training is scheduled for Thursday, November 29, 2007 at Grosse Pointe Public Library. The registration form can be found on the State Wide MICA Calendar. The registration deadline is November 26. There are additional trainings and workshops scheduled throughout Michigan. If you are interested in attending, check the MICA website for dates and locations.
- The Region 8 Appraiser’s Training will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at the Flagstar Corporate Headquarters in Troy.
· Each team participating in the tournament must provide one Appraiser. The Appraiser must attend Appraiser training on Saturday, February 16. This training certifies them to act as an appraiser. This is a commitment of 2 full days (or 3 full days if your team continues on to States).
· Each team must provide a half-day volunteer at the tournament. Work assignments might include the sales booth, registration table, information or checker table.
· Each team going on to the State tournament must provide a certified trained Appraiser. You may want to take this into consideration when recruiting your Appraisers.
- The Region 8 Tournament will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Utica High School in Utica.
· To register for the Regional Tournament you will have to register on the MICA website. You must register between ***December 1, 2007 and January 11, 2008***. You should complete the registration worksheet, which can be found on the website, prior to trying to register. It will make the registration process easier. I will be using this registration to create the Tournament schedule. Please be sure to complete as much information as possible.
· Regional fees are $50 for each competitive team and $25 for each Rising Stars team. Please make all checks or money orders payable to MICA.
- The State Tournament will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant.
