Welcome to Region 5

 Welcome to Michigan Creativity Association (MICA) Region 5 of Destination ImagiNation.  I’m looking forward to another wonderful DI year.

• We will be holding our tournament at Western H.S. in Parma MI which is located near Jackson MI in Jackson County. 

• The date will be Saturday, March 1, 2008. 

• There will be trainings your Team Managers will want to attend. Remember you can attend Team Managers’ Training anywhere in the state, not just Region 5.  Check the MICA website calendar for dates, times, and registration information.

Important Dates

           November, 28, 2007 -TEAM MANAGER TRAINING, Register by November 19, 2007

            December 1 through January 11 Register here at Region 5 on-line. 

Friday, January 11, 2008  TEAM REGISTRATION IS DUE - If your teams decide to choose a unique team name please make certain it includes the NAME of the school. 

Saturday, February 2, 2008   APPRAISER TRAINING at Western H.S. in Parma  10:00 AM - 4:00 PM

            Saturday, March 1, 2008  REGIONAL CELEBRATION OF CREATIVITY

            Saturday, April 19, 2008  STATE TOURNAMENT at CMU

Important Information

·        Each team participating in the tournament must provide one Appraiser, plus one Appraiser per 5-pak membership.  The Appraiser must attend Appraiser training on Saturday, February 2.  They must be certified to act as an appraiser.  This is a commitment of 2 full days.

·        Each Rising Star! team may either provide one appraiser or one all day volunteer to work at the tournament.  Work assignments might include the sales booth, registration table, information or checker table. 

·        Each team going on to the State tournament must provide a certified trained Appraiser.  You may want to take this into consideration when recruiting your Appraisers. 

Please correspond via e-mail when possible as it saves on cost and time.  It is also helpful to list the Team Managers and Appraisers e-mail.  Now we begin another fun filled DI year.  I look forward to working with all of you so please contact me if you have any questions.
